Dr. Janice Elena Castro is a Maryland native and a daughter of Peruvian immigrants. She is a first-generation college student who graduated as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar Alumni and received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She received an M.A. and Ph.D., in Counseling Psychology in the APA-accredited Counseling Psychology program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. As a bilingual, bicultural psychologist, she is passionate about topics such as trauma-informed practice, domestic violence, Latina/o/x mental health, and fighting the stigma surrounding mental health. She currently lives in Los Angeles, CA, and enjoys dancing, going to the beach, and hiking.
